A photowalk trough the city
Traveling around the city with your camera
Some basic information first, then you know better where you are…
Although the seat of Netherlands government is in The Hague, Amsterdam is the nominal capital. It is also the country’s largest city, with a population of more than 851,000, and the most visited, with over 3,5 million foreign visitors a year.
The Netherlands is a country situated in Western Europe, bordering Belgium to the south and Germany to the east. To its north and west is the North Sea. Although the Netherlands is the country’s official name, people often call it Holland. The provinces of North Holland and South Holland form only part of the Netherlands.
Walk along the canals feed your eyes, take street photos and create an Amsterdam feeling.

Amsterdam Needs No Reason,
Amsterdam Is Its Own Reason.”

Walking around the canals
Amsterdam, trough the eyes of a local…
The best way to do this is on foot and/or by tram. In this way you have the possibility to find good locations for beautiful shots – pure travel photography.
Of course, the canals are beautiful, but just walk away from the water, for example through nice alleys. You will come across fantastic authentic places.
Take a stroll through the museum square and then walk-through Amsterdam-Zuid; stately houses and beautiful parks, so ideal for a portrait shot. Then via the Vondelpark back to the centre, and on the way you can drink a nice beer with a few “bitterballen”, a Dutch savoury speciality, for some tasty food photos.
Amsterdam-North is absolutely great for you and your camera. Take the ferry (free) from the central station and from there you can discover several exciting locations.
